W4 Trini Family & Friends Day

W4 Trini Family & Friends Day was founded by local Brooklyn business-woman, Jeniffa Willis and her family. The family day was created exclusively to promote the beautiful twin islands of Trinidad and Tobago; it is also W4’s way of giving back to the Caribbean community in New York. W4 Trini Family & Friends Day allows attendees an opportunity to enjoy a day full of activities such as soccer, live entertainment including a DJ and performances by Caribbean artists and/or steelpan, arts & crafts, games, clowns, magicians, etc; the event also offers a breakfast and lunch menu of strictly Caribbean cuisine which introduces traditional cuisine to nonTrinidadian attendees and gives the Trinidadian attendees a ‘taste of home’; all treats (such as tamarind balls, kurma, sugarcake, preserved mango, etc) are imported directly from Trinidad.

The Rewards of Giving Back

Brooklyn Borough President Marty Markowitz attended W4 Trini Family & Friends Day in 2009; Mr. Markowitz greeted the crowd then presented a proclamation to Mrs. Willis declaring Sunday, July 12th, 2009 and subsequently, every second Sunday in July W4 Trini Family & Friends Day.
